"Reminder : a "80% IV pokemon" is not 20% less strong than a 100%. In combat, 80% IV translates into only 2-3% weaker than a 100% IV."

#PokemonGO: We all know a few hardcore players with maxed TTars and whatnot. Occasionally, they joke about how they dump anything below 93% because investing any resource in such mons is nonsense. (It is, but only to them)I've seen casual players getting influenced into behaving the same. Perhaps because after all, saying "it's only 80%" sounds like you're missing 20% of the whole thing, so why would you have any reason to go out and catch/evolve that Omanyte CP 1100 if it's only 74% ?Most casuals don't have a complete team of attackers. Thinking about Ho-Oh for instance, how many of your fellow casual trainers lvl 30-35 have 6 fully efficient attackers ? Often they carry a couple Golems, some TTars (thanks raids), some Rhydons but never seen a single Omastar. They could boost their team by adding a cute Omastar freshly caught at level 30, which would be one of their top attackers, at the cost of at most 1 of each CT and zero stardust. But the "High IV fantasy" is refraining them from doing it. So in the end, I see many casuals with no more than 3 actual strong counters who would lose interest for an extra one only because of its average IV.IVs range from 0% to 100%, but that's just one tiny scale within another scale about 10 times bigger. It's like, you're hosting a party and you need 2 extra chairs, the store is out of stock but they can offer you 2 basic chairs for free, you say "No thanks" because they're 2cm too high, so go back home and 2 people won't have a seat.TL;DR : hardcore players should encourage casuals in powering up catching and evolving high level attackers, rather than telling them to dump anything that has low IVsEdit : READ CAREFULLY - a lot of replies here talk about wasting stardust. This post is not about powering up mons that have low/average IVs, this is about catching/evolving/keeping level 29-30 attackers which will be decent and valuable attackers for casual players (or whoever who doesn't own 6 tier-1 attackers (per type) yet). via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jvNclI
