"[Silph Quarterly Report] New Egg Rarity Tiers! TSR Site Updates! And ...What's Next for the Silph Road!"

#PokemonGO: Hey travelers,If you're one of the thousands of new faces who've recently joined us here on the Road, welcome! Nearly two years ago, when the Silph Road was brand new, we Executives posted major updates in "Quarterly Reports" - a tradition that has seen varying levels of observance. ;)But as we come down from our event high, the Silph Road team has a few long-awaited updates to announce, so we're dusting off the old format. Without further ado, our Q4 Silph Road Quarterly Report:ResearchFirst off, the latest word in Silph Research:NEW: The Latest Egg Rarity Tiers (Dec 2017)The Silph Research Group, with its several hundred Researchers, has continued to collect egg data year-round. Since the end of the Halloween event, we've collected 6,172 eggs (for a total of 27,804 km) and have observed some minor changes to the egg rarity tiers and species. Read the brand new article here:http://ift.tt/2Brsudi UpgradesNext up, the Silph Road's web properties have been under construction for a few weeks. Here's why!Shiny New Publishing SystemYou may have noticed TheSilphRoad.com rarely publishes articles to our homepage. While we have historically stuck to deeper research and APK teardowns, even these have often been published straight to reddit and left off our homepage. While our travelers here on the sub may not mind (since we're all here anyway!) the Silph Road has a large reach around the world, and we have unfortunately left much of the non-redditing community out-of-touch with our discoveries and news. This was primarily because when we constructed our systems, we didn't incorporate a Content Management System (CMS) like WordPress because our servers were melting under load and we needed to keep things light to keep the lights on. The result was that publishing was laborious, which == fewer publications! But that changes today.TheSilphRoad.com has just completed integrating WordPress into our publication process - enabling our Research Group to draft and prepare articles for publication and providing them with powerful tools. We've streamlined and drastically reduced the time and energy it takes to prepare articles for publication. So keep an eye out for more frequent articles about the Silph Research Group's experiments and other news from the team!Gen III Ghosts (finally) Added to the Atlas / Resource PagesYou can finally report the Gen III ghosts on the Atlas! They're also now showing up on the Species Stats and Buddy Distance pages and the Global Pokedex.Global Pokedex Now Ready For Gen III+We've added a tabbed interface to the Global Pokedex in preparation for Gen III and beyond! Once Gen III drops we'll now be able to add these species much more easily. (Woot!)What's Next on the Road?Travelers' Cards And Global RankingsFor those who've followed the creative endeavor the 'Pokemon GO Third Saturday' group has been working on growing this past quarter, you may have noticed that dozens of cities have self-organized to put together challenges and leaderboards - and they've had a great time around the world. In our opinion, these type of community events do best with a healthy dose of competition, a prize worth winning, and ... your own personal Travelers' Card that tracks your permanent achievements and travelers you've met IRL.The Silph Road will soon be enabling this, so get ready to prove your mettle in the global arena. But more on this in coming weeks!Major Global Nest Atlas Overhaul! In preparation for Gen III, the Silph Road team is working on a much improved reporting flow for the Global Nest Atlas! Gone will be our outdated designations "Cluster Spawn," "Frequent Spawn Area," and "Frequent Spawn Point."Now we will be able to collect and display more useful data from all who report, including the amount of nest species spawns you encountered and how long you watched the park spawns. With this data, we'll be able to visually reflect dense, rich nests vs nests with only a few spawnpoints. We'll also be adding a new comments section to nests which allow you to add useful, persistent information about the nest for future travelers. Finally, we'll soon be able to merge nests that ought to be combined, including preserving their histories. We're racing Niantic to be ready by Gen III. Wish us luck!Parting WordsThere's even more cooking in the lab, travelers. But you'll have to stay tuned for the next update from the Silph Road team! Finally, I just wanted to thank our awesome folks who help answer newbie questions in /new. We've seen countless of our travelers join us in working to foster a culture of constructive discourse and helpful, friendly camaraderie (an uphill battle in most gaming communities) and it warms our hearts. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey is helping newbies (or even sometimes veterans!) to learn something new or find a better way to play. We're proud to be traveling the Road with you all. Now, let the Gen III watch begin!Travel Safe,- Executive Dronpes - via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2Brco32
