"Stardust as currency: are you a hoarder, a spendthrift, or in between?"
#PokemonGO: Stardust is the closest thing to currency in Pokemon Go. (Well, there are coins, but stardust is the directly relevant currency in the meta.) In real life, money can be spent or saved (invested), and general financial planning advice suggests some amount of the latter. In PKG, however, there are no "stocks" or "bonds" that you can invest stardust in, nor is there a stardust bank; and more importantly, there is no "retirement" during which you need to live off accumulated savings. If you need stardust, you can go earn it.Strictly speaking, then, there might not be any reason to save any stardust. Presumably there is always some Pokemon that you could use the stardust to power up. Yet, I find myself sticking to a reserve amount (currently, 200,000 stardust) that I will not spend below. My thinking is that it would be useful to have a stash of stardust for an emergency situation, most likely falling just short of defeating a raid boss, and needing to power up some Pokemon for an extra edge.Alternatively, I've got some top tier Pokemons (Ttars, Dragonites, etc.) where candy is the limiting factor; as soon as I get enough candy, I power them up. Having a stash of stardust means that if I luck into a raid boss (e.g., Ttar) I can power it up.But am I deluding myself? That's a lot of stardust sitting around, not doing anything. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2DsbbJU
