"[Discussion] The Ultimate Community Day #2 Preparation Guide - Dratini Edition"

#PokemonGO: Good morning All.As most of you are aware, Community Day #2 is fast approaching and im sure that everyone knows it features the dragon type - Dratini by now. This is second monthly event with the first featuring Pikachu.Whilst this will be a good time for trainers who (like me) do not yet have the gold Dragon Tamer Medal it will also be a good time for the following:Building up stardust - As there will be 3x Catch stardust during the 3 hours of the event. This means that each Dratini will be worth a minimum of 300 Stardust (450 with a star piece active and even more with a weather boost.)Grabbing Dratini Candies - Pinaps are a must for this event. For anyone wanting to build up a store of strong Dragonites (even if they are slowly becoming less relevant in the current Meta.)Exclusive Move - Draco Meteor - Whilst Outrage will outperform Draco Metror in most situations it is still an exclusive move that (as far as we know) will be unavailable ever again on Dragonite.3-Hour Lures - Placing lures at the start of the 3-hour long event will make them last until the end of the event. This will be a good opportunity to get extra spawns (not just Dratini) around Pokestops. How should I prepare for this event? So this event differs from the last one as it does not have additional XP given. Which means that you wont have to worry about missing out on catching things in order to mass evolve and transfer.I will personally be preparing by doing the following things:Stocking up on Pokeballs, Great balls, Ultra Balls, Star pieces and Pinap Berries. For obvious reasons but you can also stock up on Lure modules too if you wish.Making sure your PoGo+ is connected and ready-to-roll. I think using a PoGo+ if you have one will be a great way to maximize catches and stardust obtained. It has a 32% Base capture rate to begin with. But will Niantic release Shiny Dratini? The honest answer is: We dont know. But if taking the last few weeks (and previous Community day) into consideration, we have had more shiny Pokemon released in a shorter space of time than ever before. I think its safe to say that Niantic knows that we're hungry for more shiny Pokemon and i trust that they will do the right thing and release Shiny Dratini into the world. Why were there mixed reactions to the last Community Day? TSR Worked out that the Shiny Pikachu rate to be as high as 1 in 22.7 at the first Community Day. This was met with mixed reviews but the wider community for a few reasons: The first was that anyone who had previously had a shiny Pikachu, now felt that their Pikachu was devalued due to the over abundance. Lots of people also felt that the rate was far too high and some (despite the high rate) were still unable to catch one.Shiny Preditctions for the event?I predict one of three outcomes for this event:Shiny Dratini will not be released (fingers crossed its not this one.) Shiny Dratini will be released and have the usual shiny rate of (around) 1 in 256. (This rate is still an assumption.) Shiny Dratini will be released with the same shiny rate as Surfachu (1 in 22ish.) (Study can be found here: http://ift.tt/2C8uMCj to keep in mindPikachus shiny form was released prior to the event so Dratini may not get its shiny form released at all.Shiny Pikachus increased rate may have been a decision based upon how rare it was before the event so as to give everyone a higher chance of capturing a Shiny. As Dratinis shiny has not yet been released, there s not evidence to show that it will have the same increased shiny rate as Pikachu.5 Days to go.Regardless of whether Shiny Dratini is going to be released or not, im sure the event will be good fun for all that partake and dont forget the next expected event After community day is Pokemon Day on February 27thEnjoy Travelers :) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2EEPast
