"Generation 8 starter leak confirmed fake"

The creator of the generation 8 starter leak has revealed in this interview with Pokémon Millennium, an Italian website dedicated to the franchise, that the leak is indeed fake. It seemed pretty realistic, but there were some things that pointed to them being fake, such as the leaks being HQ and the drawings looking polished. Still, if you liked his leak, check him out. Here's a translation of the interview with the artist.Q: Something about the Fakémons that left an impression was their looks, so much so that some people tried speculating from them to discover the game's presumed region. What inspired their designs? Is there a link between them?A: There's never been a logical connection between starters and their region. I've simply wanted a Platypus Pokémon for a while (Psyduck doesn't count) for a while, and as for the Chinese Zodiac matter, a rabbit was a very likely choice. The lemur appeared on its own, a sudden inspiration I liked and that makes it my favourite of the three.Q: Creating a drawing requires time, especially if it's a project like this. How did you make the artworks from a technical point of view? Did you study the sketches of previously revealed Pokémon, like the ones of Decidueye, Primarina and Incineroar?A: I of course took inspiration from the famous Chinese leaks artworks. However, I read many comments that mentioned my wanting to copy the format, when it is simply the stile GameFreak's concept art has had for three generations. That's the style I wanted to copy, not the one of Decidueye&Co specifically.Q: Let's move on to a hot topic... When and how did you get the idea of creating some Fakémons? Were they drawings created for the occasion or were they a project you had in you mind for a while? A: I've always wanted a Lemur or Platypus Pokémon, and when Passimian was revealed for Generation 7 I was very happy. As for the artwork of this lemur, I tried to keep the idea of the animal it's based on while straying from the design of its well known Alolan cousin.Tl;dr: the starter leak was fake, check out the artist if you liked the fake starters. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2BGlJaM
