"Is anybody else experiencing a slowdown/freeze when feeding berries?"

#PokemonGO: I'm wondering if anybody is experiencing extremely sluggish game when feeding berries; My game is slowing down and sometimes freezing for 10-15 seconds; the beach ball even freezes for a short while. the game then returns to normal behaviour, unless i feed again. it seems to be linked directly to the feeding berries sequence; i was able to battle gyms and catch mons with no problems. . i've tried this on two different iphones, on wifi and 4g network.
