"Pokémon that were excluded for real-world reasons"

I always find it fascinating when Pokémon are removed from games, or the show, for real-world reasons. Three examples are Jynx, Kadabra, and Porygon.Jynx's design was criticized in the West for resembling a blackface caricature. It wasn't possible to redesign the character before the release of Yellow Version, so they made it impossible to catch Jynx in that game. Because it's part of a 3-Pokémon cycle, they also made it impossible to find Electabuzz or Magmar in Yellow.Kadabra's Japanese name is Yungerer, after the fraudster Uri Geller, who claimed to be a psychic who could bend spoons with his mind. Geller sued Nintendo for £60 million in 2000, and although he didn't win, he threatened more lawsuits in the future. As a result, Kadabra hasn't gotten a card in the TCG since 2003. Abra and Alakazam have gotten new cards since then, although Abra has a move that allows it to evolve directly into Alakazam.Porygon, of course, was blamed for hundreds of Japanese children getting seizures while watching a red/blue flashing effect in the episode Electric Soldier Porygon. Although the flashing effect was due to Pikachu, not Porygon, Porygon and its evolutions haven't appeared in the anime since. Nintendo has also taken steps to avoid flashing effects that could cause photosensitive seizures.Do you know of any more examples like this? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2BCUtK6
