"Shiny Magikarp Field Research Reward: Two things I learned"
#PokemonGO: Earlier today I completed the "Catch 10 Pokémon" field research quest, which awards an encounter with a Magikarp. I have completed this quest many times before, however this time I was rewarded with a shiny Magikarp. In the name of science, I performed two tests with this reward and learned the following:1. A shiny Pokémon encounter rewarded to a player for completing a task on a given day from a specific Pokéstop does not guarantee that other players will also get a shiny Pokémon encounter for completing the same task at that Pokéstop on the same dayAs soon as I captured my shiny Magikarp, I alerted my local Discord and asked if anyone would be interested in visiting that Pokéstop to see what would happen. No less than six people visited the stop, obtained the quest and completed it. None were shiny. This was expected, but at least we verified. (We were all hopeful, though.)2. You can leave and re-enter your field research encounter as often as you like and the Pokémon will remain shinyI wanted to get a really good screenshot of the shiny reveal. My first attempt was too late. I already have a few shiny Magikarp, so I took a chance and left the encounter to see if I could get a better shot. When I re-selected the encounter, it was still shiny. I did this 5 times until I got the shot I wanted. So there's no worry about losing your shiny Pokémon if you decide to leave your encounter. Conversely, I assume that means no matter how many times you re-enter your particular Pokémon encounter, if it's not shiny it never will be.tl,dr: Shiny Pokémon encounters from field research are player-specific, not task/Pokéstop specific, and the shiny status is predetermined regardless of how many times you enter the encounterGood luck to everyone getting a shiny Pokémon encounter reward! via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2uZZxqt
