"Fun/Silly theory: Why some evolutions were discovered much later"

Now it's easy to explain all the cases of cross generational evolutions with the whole multiverse thing, but as a little bit of fun, I've tried to come up with a bunch of theories as to why some evolutions could legitimately have not been discovered in certain games:KantoPichu, Igglybuff and Cleffa: Most Animals are very protective of their young, and it's very easy to explain that due to this, newborn Pokémon were not often seen in the wild. Kanto's daycare only allows one Pokémon at a time, basically completely negating any possibility of breeding mons. As a result, the young of some Pokémon went undiscovered until daycares began accepting more than one Pokémon, allowing for Pokémon to breed. Given some Animals like Dogs are willing to let their owners handle their pups as they view their owner as part of the pack, it's safe to assume that Pokémon might work the same way.Crobat: While a super common Pokémon in the Kanto region, Zubat is also seemingly not very well liked. The main group of people who use this Pokémon, Team Rocket, are known for being abusive, and in some instances, carrying weapons like whips, seemingly to force their Pokémon to do as they say. As a result, Golbats never reached their final form.Bellossom: Sun Stones are seemingly non existent in Kanto for some unknown reason, most likely a geological one, meaning that Bellossom could not occur in this region without importing a Sun Stone. Even then, given Vileplume's existence, it may not have occured to trainers that Gloom could have a seperate form.Slowking and Politoed: Much like the example above, King's Rocks are basically non existent within Kanto, making these two mons completely unknown as a result.Magnezone: Magnezone can only evolve under the effects of areas with strange magnetic activity, and as Kanto seems to have no location with this anomaly in any generation, it's basically confirmed that Kanto would not know of Magnezone through first hand experience.Steelix and Scizor: Again, it's easy to come to the conclusion that it's because this item wasn't available in Kanto for this to happen, however, giving Pokémon items to hold was not seen within Kanto for some unknown reason, possibly due to league rules or something. However, it could also be that giving an item that affects Steel types to two mons that seemingly have no link to Steel types whatsoever would seem illogical at best, and thus, never allowed for Steelix or Scizor.Tyrogue and Hitmontop: The easiest explanation for this is not only due to Kanto's lack of breeding Pokémon in the daycare, but also due to how breeding works in general and the Hitmon's genders, however, the Hitmon family doesn't seem to even be native to any known region, making the whole breeding thing harder. It's likely that Kiyo may have been given Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan by a fellow blackbelt from another region.Lickilicky and Tangrowth: In this instance, we see two Pokémon who level up by knowing a move, however, neither move was teachable to either Pokémon at this point in time, as there were no mentors or move relearners within the Kanto region.Kingdra, Rhyperior, Electivire and Magmortar: Again, this is another case of item rarity, but also the same issue as the Steelix/Scizor situation.Happiny and Blissey: Seen as this relates to the same mon (Chansey), let's combine these two explanations into one. First of all, Chansey isn't native to Kanto, hence why it can only be found in the Safari Zone. Second, Chansey is endangered, as it's eggs are poached due to being considered a delicacy. This basically makes Happinies near non existent as a result. Also, not only are Chanseys naturally timid, but nearly every trainer owned one in Kanto is owned by a nurse. Given the type of job hospital work is, it would be very stressful and as a result, hinder Chansey's evolution into Blissey.Mime Jr.: Pretty much a result of the no held items and lack of breeding in the Daycare.Smoochum, Elekid and Magby: Given that so few individuals actually own these Pokémon in Kanto, it's heavily implied that these Pokémon are actually native to other regions. As a result, their infant stage would also not be known within Kanto.Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon and Sylveon: Not only is Eevee again seemingly an imported mon with very few trainers that actually raise one, but the evolution stones (Fire, Thunder and Water specifically) are of so high abundance that Kanto is one of the few regions in which these stones are sold within shops, implying they're either natively mined within Kanto or incredibly common to the point that they're virtually worthless. This means trainers are more likely to buy and use these stones as a result. As for Leafeon and Glaceon, it's simple, the environmental conditions within Kanto are not suited for their evolution.Porygon 2 and Porygon Z: Simple. They hadn't developed the patch yet.Munchlax: While it could easily be stated like before of the 'protective of their own offspring' thing, it's much easier to explain that Snorlax is migratory, and thus only comes to Kanto when it's hungry, hence the 'left towards the mountains' comment when you fail to catch it.JohtoTogekiss, Honchkrow, Mismagius: Again, it's another case of availability, with the Shiny and Dusk stones not being available in Johto's first appearance.Azurill, Bonsly, Wynaut and Mantyke: Another case of the availability curse. However, yet again, the effects of items in the Daycare had not been discovered in Johto at that point.Ambipom, Yanmega and Mamoswine: Basically the same issue as Lickilicky and Tangrowth. However, with the case of Mamoswine, it most likely WAS discovered, but not yet discovered that it was the final form of Piloswine, as it was assumed extinct.Gliscor and Weavile: Do I even need to say 'availability' anymore?HoennYou'll notice at this point it mainly boils down to many points mentioned beforeGallade, Froslass: Dawn Stone availability.Probopass: Lack of a magnetic field in Hoenn.Budew and Chingling: Lack of respective incense.Dusknoir: Lack of the Reaper Cloth.Aside from a few VERY lacking explanations, what do you guys think? Are these viable explanations? What are your theories on why some evolutions weren't discovered until much later? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2si04zs
