"[Analysis] There is no single best moveset for ho-oh"

#PokemonGO: Far too many people have tried to tell me Ho-oh should be steel wing solar beam when I tell them I have extrasensory, fire blast. Far too many. The truth is, Ho-oh doesn't have a perfect moveset. Unlike every other pokemon, it has 6 unique movesets and all of them do at least 90% the regular neutral dps. What matters much more than the quick dps calc, is how you want to use ho-oh.Let's start things off with numbers. Here are ho-oh's dps calculations. https://ift.tt/2sAjRuK you can see, which moveset you choose matters very little over the long run. Breakpoints and your exact level and attack IV are going to matter more than the moveset, even against normal types like blissey and snorlax. The whether also plays a key role.In the sun, the calculation looks like this: https://ift.tt/2sGjIFe wind, like this: https://ift.tt/2kVFku9 snow, like this: https://ift.tt/2Hq6a65 what matters even more than all of this is the pokemon you already have. For example, if you have a groudon with solar beam, you don't need a solar beam ho-oh. Groudon does better in literally every major fight since everything weak to grass and one of ho-ohs fast move is also weak to ground. If you have an Entei, you may not need a bulky fire attacker so switching it to Fire blast is probably a waste (though it does nicely against pokemon with ground type attacks like Metagross). If you do not have a lugia and are meduim level, giving it Brave Bird and extrasensory may be a good idea to help you anchor Machamp raids.Even the choice between steel wing and extrasensory is subjective. Extrasensory allows you to hit fighting and poison types hard making for a great pairing with fire blast or brave bird. However, it can also see use with solarbeam if you want to build energy quick for a solar beam (for example so kyogre can't get off hydro pump before you die).Steel wing helps counter Ho-oh's mortal enemy, rock, but doesn't leave much room for a good counter. It may be useful in PvP in the future, especially paired with Solar Beam, but currently, the steel grass combo doesn't have any real use in attacking. The steel wing fire blast combo is also supereffective against ice types like pilloswine and the upcomming regice. So if you have a nice ho-oh and you want to power it up, think carefully about the moves. Don't just throw it into a damage calc and pick "Steel wing fire blast", or "Steel wing Solar beam". Think about how it can supplement your current team, what monsters you're interested in fighting, and how you plan to use it. I promise you that as long as you decide well based on your situation, you will find use for your beautiful bird. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2Ls4k78
