"Are we overrating Smack Down Tyranitar?"

#PokemonGO: First let me say, I agree with the statement of other posts that "The most important Community Day ever is less than a week away." etc.But I am being to wonder how good double rock moves Tyranitar will be, and how "meta" it is.But you say that it will be one of, and most likely the best ROCK attacker across all generations. True. But, the key word is "ROCK", and the question then becomes how useful is the rock type?First a general look at Rock type attacks, they are super effective against Flying, Bug, Fire and Ice. Let's look at these one by one, with specific focus on what other types might be better then rock, and therefore would be your go to.Flying: This type is weak to electric, ice and rock. The issue with flying typing is that electric types in PoGo are very strong, with very good movesets. This generally results in a large number of electric types out performing a double rock TT in terms of dps.Bug: First the largest issue with Bug, is TT's dark typing makes it weak to Bug attacks. Bug is also weak to fire, and similar to electric many fire types will outclass double rock TT with regards to DPS.Fire: Actually might have a use here, as water types do not have the greatest moves in the game, but still will be outclassed by Kyogre.Ice: Similar to Bug, Fire types will outclass a double rock TT.When looking to solo or short man raids we look at the best attacker for that specific mon, meaning we need to consider all things that are effective at attacking into it.The point is well made in the game press article detailing the history of rock types: https://ift.tt/2GJGGAx specifically around how it was the birds (and how 3 of them are double weak to rock, and another is neutral to electric) that gave raise the value of double rock. But the birds are gone now, and we have seen the shiny versions of ho-ho and lugia, therefore rock types might have seen their largest/best period of usefulness in the past.TLDR: I think you should get a few smack down TT's, but if you can't for some reason it is not the end of the world, and you also might want to consider saving some of that candy for your double dark TT's if you are like me and always struggle to get Larvitar candy. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2sPNSHi
