"PSA: Pokemon inside 7km egg was decided at the moment you open the gift, not when the gift was obtained by your friend."

#PokemonGO: Timeline:Girlfriend and I were in Finland early July. She obtained a gift on July 7.Alolan Geodude / Diglett were launched a week after (i.e., Jul 13/14).She gave me the gift on Jul 23 (I opened it almost immediately), hatched and it was an Alolan Geodude.Screenshot: https://ift.tt/2uDPd4P Thanks u/BorisDirk for pointing out: the pokemon could still be decided (i) when the gift was sent to you by your friend; or (ii) when the gift was opened by you. My "experiment" just eliminated the possibility of the Pokemon being decided when the gift was obtained by your friend.Edit 2: This mechanism has got me thinking: How can "regional eggs" be implemented under this mechanism? E.g., even if our friend send us a gift from, say, Europe, but if we open the gift at anywhere outside Europe, the egg cannot contain Mr. Mime? via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2A1a7Qf
