"Why was Pokemon created?"

Hello, I am just very interested in why Pokemon was created as in the origins. The thing is from what my research tells me (just the jist of it) is that it was made because young Satoshi wanted to make a game off of his love of bug catching pretty much. Also I need a safe/canon answer because I told one of my closest friends about my love for the franchise but, he doesn't like the franchise because his mom told him that in her research that the franchise was made because there was a young boy who loved demons and his parents wanted him to stop so he made the game to get back at 'em.
