"Difference in excitement Mew vs Celebi quest (Potential Spoilers up to stage 6)"
#PokemonGO: Of course being the first mythical pokemon Mew was always going to be more exciting than the second one, however this time the research is not engaging at all. I decided to look into why this is and talking to many trainers they all blame it on boring time sink quests, but I disagree. It's the way they have implemented the time sinks.I fully expected there to be time sinks as Mew got completed way too fast and I was really hoping the professor would keep us busy for longer this time. But that's the point exactly: the professor is not keeping us busy at all. Stage 6 quest is basically wait a week. I don't get any excitement of working towards a mythical pokemon if all I have to do is not play the game! (slightly exaggerated)When I think of a time sink it is something like catch 500 pokemon. It'll slow everyone down but it doesn't auto-complete after a week. Most importantly, you actually have to play the game to complete it. You'd see people go out playing in the evening more, actively working towards the quest rather than just their daily routine, to complete it faster than a week. People will want to race each other, there'll be excitement.Obviously there'll be more fun time sinks like have us find an eevee in the wild rather than giving it for free (remember everyone calling out ditto?), but this is not a suggestion board. I don't want to discuss the actual implementation, but rather the principles: People working towards Celebi rather than waiting for it to happen. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2P8ZMoq
