"How We Sacrificed 25+ Pokemon To Ensure an EX Raid"
#PokemonGO: Short Summary (TL;DR): We ritual sacrificed a bunch of pokemon to ensure that we would get an EX raid pass handed out for our town. We got 3 different EX raids with this new wave. Why would you do such a thing? In the EX Wave that went out on July 25th, our town with 6 very frequented EX raid gyms, only one of which was sponsored, got no passes. Some obscure town 20 minutes north of us got one for the first time in many moons, but we didn't. There have been many articles about what statistically makes an EX raid more likely, and we use that information as much as we can. There are factors about how EX raid passes are handed out that aren't fully understood on this side of Niantic, so we thought it was time finally to appeal to an unknown higher power. What exactly was the sacrifice? We made it so that as many people as possible could participate. The focal point of our sacrifices was at an EX raid qualifier for our town. The geographic location of the sacrifice was not discounted from being useful. With August 2nd being the most likely day for raid passes to be handed out, we did a sacrifice at 11:06 am local time (666 minutes into the day). We sacrificed the following type of mon, ordered by priority, based on their value in our local community's meta and the sacrifice theme: 69 CP, 666 CP, 420 CP, and when time was running out during our 666 second window: any Rattata. At least 25 pokemon (that we've confirmed) was sacrificed between 18+ trainers (that we've confirmed). Were there any strange effects/side-effects?No religions were made or conversions achieved in the process of this sacrifice or as a result of. That we got so many EX raids is the desired effect. The focal point of the sacrifice was clockblocked, but it must have been part of the sacrifice. Our community is ecstatic that we got more EX raids than usual with this wave. Yes, there are supposed to be more rational ways of ensuring EX raids, but honestly, it is so ridiculous sometimes that just making a ritualistic pokemon sacrifice is the only way to feel like we really tried. What do you want!?!More communities to do more sacrifices. The more we make this a thing, the sooner Niantic has to step in and make the system better. Maybe before web outlets start having articles with headlines such as: "Are your kids doing ritualistic sacrifices for pokemon?" It's one thing to just complain about how things are, but it's another to have fun making light of the current system. via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/2O5KC2t
