"Trouble getting a Pokemon Go Plus"

#PokemonGO: I've been playing since the game came out but only recently felt like I really wanted a plus. Has anyone heard anything about them being discontinued? I can no longer get them at Best Buy or Game Stop. Walmart is selling them for like $60 and Amazon only has them through 3rd party sellers. All of the prices have gone up there as well. eBay has proved worse since buying from there was a scam each time. I know the Gotcha is out. I worry about using it as it's third party and the potential of being banned. Has Niantic said anything on the subject or does anyone have suggestions I have overlooked? Is the Gotcha safe?
