"Why can't I scroll through my friends list like I can my pokemon"

#PokemonGO: When I'm viewing a friend, why can't I swipe sideways (or tap the top edge by the side) to scroll to the next friend?Why do I have to close out and go back to the friend list then pick a new friend? it's tedious and requires extra clicks/strokes.While we are at it, why can't I see which friends have unopened gifts from the main friends menu and why do I have to go into each friend to see that. (I really want to be able to tell if I can send a friend a gift without clicking on that friend. I can see if I have sent them a gift today now, but the other piece of the puzzle is if they have not opened that gift, I can't send another.
