"This recent event reinforces my opinion that Niantics biggest issue is communication."
#PokemonGO: So as the dust falls on feebas day, reading on here and talking to people during and after the day I can feel a lot of annoyance (and rightly so in a lot of ways) about the feebas day. But I think a lot of this could have been mitigated by better communication.First off the bat, let's have a longer warning period for the 3 hour exclusive events. A big chunk of my community could either not play at all or only do a handful of stops because of real life commitments. Does it hurt anyone to say months in advance we have an exclusive event on this day? We don't even need to know what it is, just something as a placeholder to give people the option to keep it free?I'm going skip over quickly the choices of quests which were poor at best (the hammering down rain for all three hours did not make throwing easy or the walking part fun). But a little information would probably have helped in Europe in particular (had friends stuck with a bag of 5km and 10 km eggs so 25% of stops couldn't be completed). I think the difficulty of the tasks caught us completely flat footed and made it all the more frustrating. And now for the kicker, why not communicate the shiny rates before the event? I think a lot of people here operated on an assumed CD or higher chance (seemed logical as we are going to complete less quests than catch Pokemon). If we had been warned that the rate was 1/50 or even 1/100 then expectations would be very different. This would shift expectations and instead people that did get them could feel happy and lucky, while those that didn't knew that it wasn't a cruel bit of RNG. It also would allow people to decide if they wanted to play in the rain or terrible weather for a low chance? A lot of salt in our community comes from playing three hours soaked to the bone in almost zero degrees weather to find you didn't have a great chance anyway...So in summary I still believe that this format could work with some tweaking, but as in a lot of things Niantics biggest enemy is themselves and lack of communication... via /r/pokemongo http://bit.ly/2FJKbtT
