"Yes, I got a shiny. No, I don't consider this community day a success. Here's why. (Thoughts on design)"

#PokemonGO: Hatchathon event has bigger eggs to reflect more movement. Catch community days, give you a longer lure so you can catch more pokemon.Research day you are encouraged to complete one taks and move on as quickly as possible to do more research. Ideally quick tasks would reflect this. They didn't, which resulted in spiraling design flaws.-First problem, Catch 10/15: People started luring for 30 minutes, but leaving shortly after completing the tasks. I saw several stops repeatedly lured by different people, reflecting a demand for pokemon to catch, but not sufficient time or lure length. When people are luring in an event designed to create change of location, there is a problem.-The fix: Catch 2 pokemon. The research should reflect the typical amount of pokemon found at a stop. Hit it and move on. No lure required.-Conflicting research: Two stops, one walk, one catch. This resulted in people bundling up several quests of a kind, and ignoring others. It means the lure next to you might help, or it serves no purpose. More importantly the two directly conflict each other. You stand and catch, or move away.-The fix: Quests that allow multiple options for completing. "Catch x pokemon or recieve a buddy candy". Two ways to do one task.-Value: Value doesn't hold up to other events. Lures hold 30 minutes, and you have to leave. Compared to community days 3 hours. Tasks may take an incubator to complete, which can be costly. Now take those into account when factoring in the shiny rate/cost for catch community days. The value is underwhelming, and resulted in several people raising their hands through the event and stopping the use of incubators and lures.-The fix: See above solutions. These items shouldn't be necessary if the hit and move on philosophy above is taken into account.Time/rate: The event is a about exploring new locations, but only allows 3 hours to do so. I was actually disappointed by how slow I was forced to move, and had to cut my planned expedition short as a result. The fix: Increase the rate, or lengthen the event. This also helps rural players who may need more time to travel to another location or visit spread out stops.Conclussion: Great idea, needs tasks that reflect it. via /r/pokemongo http://bit.ly/2FNs7ir
