"Unpopular Opinion: FOMO is something you address, not Niantic."

#PokemonGO: I've been seeing a lot of complaints about Niantic creating a "FOMO" culture on this sub. Some of the issues I agree with (not informing players early enough in advance) while others are downright ridiculous.I've seen people complain that we now have too many events and they no longer have weekends to spare. People need to realize that there is absolutely zero need to participate in every event. You guys have said it yourself, nothing stays legacy forever. Legendary pokemon come back into raids, CD pokemon had a year-end celebration, etc. Anything meta defining will almost always come back. The Fear of Missing Out is something the user manifests. Niantic sure as hell doesn't make anything exclusive, they intentionally give users multiple (some times many) chances to get a pokemon. The Champerl event is a great example of an event that could easily be skipped. Clamperl doesn't really affect the meta and is available in the wild. Sure, it will probably not be as easy to get a shiny in the future, but Niantic will ensure you will always have a chance. Swallow the FOMO pill and move on. You don't have to have it today. Also, keep in mind some people can't choose which weekends to be free. Someone who missed community day might be very grateful there is an event the weekend after (where maybe they are free). More events means more chances for people to participate.TL;DR: Stop complaining about FOMO and address it yourself. You dont NEED to attend every event. via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/2XlarkI
