"If dodging worked in Pokemon Go, Machamp could be Tankier vs Dialga than Blissey currently is."

#PokemonGO: There’s always been discussion about how dodging, a core mechanic of the battle system, does not work in group raids. The current raid boss Dialga presents a good opportunity for illustrating how it negatively affects raiding. So I thought I would take a look at comparing the best counter to Dialga to what is generally regarded to as the tankiest Pokemon in Pokemon Go.My example solely uses the Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor moveset of Dialga. Draco Meteor is probably the most dreaded charge move on it, so I believe it is a good choice. For my example, I chose to use Machamp with it dodging Draco Meteor in a system where dodging works. Meanwhile, I used Blissey with no dodging since that’s how most raids have to be played currently.RNG and party size influence how many fast attacks a raid boss uses compared to its charged attack so I will use two scenarios. One where Dialga has 5 fast attacks per charged attack, and another where it has 3 fast attacks per charged attack. The more often a charged attack is used, the more valuable a functional dodge system would be.5 Fast Attacks Per Charged100% Level 40 Blissey, No DodgingAttack(s)DamageRemaining HPBaseBase4035x Dragon Breath30373Draco Meteor1422315x Dragon Breath30201Draco Meteor142595x Dragon Breath3029Draco Meteor142-113100% Level 40 Machamp, DM DodgingAttack(s)DamageRemaining HPBaseBase1755x Dragon Breath30145Draco Meteor371085x Dragon Breath3078Draco Meteor142415x Dragon Breath3011Draco Meteor37-26As you can see from this scenario, Machamp and Blissey ended up lasting the same amount of time, each dying after the third Draco Meteor.3 Fast Attacks Per Charged100% Level 40 Blissey, No DodgingAttack(s)DamageRemaining HPBaseBase4033x Dragon Breath18385Draco Meteor1422433x Dragon Breath18225Draco Meteor142833x Dragon Breath1865Draco Meteor142-77100% Level 40 Machamp, DM DodgingAttack(s)DamageRemaining HPBaseBase1753x Dragon Breath18157Draco Meteor371203x Dragon Breath18102Draco Meteor37653x Dragon Breath1847Draco Meteor37102x Dragon Breath12-2As you can see from this scenario, a dodging Machamp actually survives the Draco Meteor that would have fainted Blissey. A scenario like this is somewhat likely in a large raid group in which the raid boss will quickly generate energy. When raids were first introduced, they gave greater amounts of rare candy and golden razzberries. Many trainers during this time regularly complained that they were in need of potions so Niantic introduced them to the raid reward pool, forever diluting the more valuable raid rewards. If the dodging system worked in Pokemon Go, this complaint may not have been so significant. The dodge system is broken in Pokemon Go, but we don't want to see it done away with or replaced. Dodging is one of the few displays of actual skill in Pokemon Go. It's impressive to see skilled trainers in solo raids who can dodge all sorts of charged attacks with a single swipe, hardly slowing down their DPS in the process. These trainers should be rewarded for these skills and be allowed to put them to use in group raids as well. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2TfjjoB
