"Lapras Quest Epitomises Where We Are At With Shiny Pokemon"

#PokemonGO: *DISCLAIMER - THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT PLAYERS BEING ENTITLED TO SHINY POKEMONNow over five days in it has become clear that Win 5 Gym Battles is by far the rarest quest and there is some negative feelings towards this in my local community of Melbourne and I imagine a similar feeling is being felt around the world.Personally I have spun over 1,000 different stops in the past five days and have not come across a single Win 5 Gym Battles quest. This is in a city of over 5 million people and thousands and thousands of stops. All fifth-teen of the Win 5 Gym Battles I have completed have been from our Discord chat, with an average of around 3 per day being located within 20km of the city.I find this to be a little too rare, especially when comparing it to more recent shinies and shiny Pokemon with similar odds to Lapras. All other event Shiny Pokemon have had either a weekend dedicated to them or being obtainable in raids or a common quest after the worldwide release and at the very least are "reasonably common" in the wild.Sandshrew for example is obtainable in the "Catch 10 Ground Pokemon" quest and I can't tell you how many of these I have come across in the last five days but it would be well above fifty and Sandshrew is regularly seen in the wild (with the right biome).By the early estimates Lapras has a 1/75 chance of being Shiny and Pokemon with similar odds to Lapras (1/75) such as Aerodactly and Scyther again are much easier to find. Aerodactly can being obtained in the extremely common "Use an item to evolve a Pokemon" quest while Scyther currently nests.Lapras is an extremely desirable shiny Pokemon and the way Niantic has handled it's release is far from ideal, especially with almost no new content in several months to take attention away from shinies. It certainly doesn't help to have around a dozen or so "sponsored" YouTube content creators all make videos lauding their Shiny Lapras catches and mentioning a worldwide release. At least at GO Fest with Mewtwo and Celebi they weren't immediately released worldwide there was a gap which allowed people to get prepared and manage their expectations.I feel maybe Lapras being as desired as it is should've been released worldwide this way or perhaps with the same level of notice as the Shiny Legendary Birds & Latias/Latios, or maybe Niantic should've made the quest a little bit more common. Now before anyone says "shinies should be rare" and "you aren't entitled to a shiny Pokemon" I totally agree and I think most if not all of the player base does as well. What a lot of people are struggling with is the fact that Niantic keep moving the goalposts with each Shiny release. It feels like every time a shiny is released something has changed compared to the last. They are way to common, or way to rare or only being obtainable in raids, or only being shiny during specific dates, going missing, the list goes on and this really fueling a lot of anger regarding shiny Pokemon. What also doesn't help is the fact that we really have not had any "new" content in months now and "Shiny Hunting" has become the main goal for a lot of the player base when it probably shouldn't.Is it just me? It really doesn't feel like it's just me a lot of people are seemingly getting more and more frustrated with the game with each Shiny release.EDIT: Personally I like hunting for these Lapras quests as it gives the game some life, but not finding one in over a thousands stops is way to rare. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2UYPPkI
