"Rare pokemon are not the problem. The tracking and spawn system is."
#PokemonGO: (This post contains constructive criticism, just trying to give feedback about this new method of releasing legendaries)The legendary pokemon Azelf, Uxie and Mesprit have been released in a different way. Instead of coming from raids or research, they appear rarely in the wild. I personally really like this and wish they do this with other legendaries in the future. But a lot of people are unhappy about it, and with a totally valid reason.Because of their rarity, finding them relies almost completely on luck. However, is their rarity really the problem? I think that, with improvements to the spawning and tracking mechanics, even ultra rare pokemon could be fun to hunt for everyone. The frustration people have when not being able to find rare pokemon comes from how difficult is to know what pokemon are actually close to you, and how random and short the spawning is. So these are some ideas on how to improve it:Make biomes easier to identify. It could be as simple as changing the colors of the map depending on the biome you are in. This way people could easily identify the "water" or "lake" areas required to find Azelf/Uxie/Mesprit.Let spawns last longer. 30 minutes is not too bad, but something between 1 hour and 2 hours would be ideal. It should give enough time to let you find it, notify your friends about it, and let them come and get it too. It would create a great sense of community.Improve the tracker. There are thousands of ways to do it: bring footsteps back, let us choose between nearby/sightings, ability to filter unwanted pokemon... The current pokestop tracker lacks both strategy (you are given the exact location, without having to do much effort) and precision (you might only be able to see like 20% of what's actually around you, since the rest is not close to a pokestop).A special tracker with a wider range for only rare pokemon. Or maybe even a notification for rare pokemon nearby. There are lots of other great suggestions. The main idea I want to send is that pokemon being rare is great, and a fun reason to explore. The problem is with the tracker and the spawn/biome system. If they are improved, catching rare wild pokemon will be really fun! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2GRRdNa
