"Notification limit for gym defender and friend interaction"

#PokemonGO: Since the launch of friendships, there have been a lot of reports on TheSilphRoad of missing XP for friendship level ups. I had this problem too and lost over 1mio XP some weeks ago.​Unfortunately I found no solution in one of those posts and the support only suggests to make sure that a stable internet connection and high accuracy GPS signal is available on my device.​Therefore I made a lot of testing with my friends and finally found something.​I discovered that there is a limit on notifications. After reaching this limit, you will not receive any further notifications and without notifications there will be no XP for friendship level up. You get the XP with the next interaction on the next day. (as long as you have not reached the limit again / still)​As soon as you have received more than 196* notifications in the last 24 hours, you will not receive any further notifications until you drop below 196 again.​*stacked notifications like "5 friends open your gift" count as 5.​There will be no further notifications for friendship actions as well as notifications to low motivated gym defenders or returning gym defenders.​This limit seems to be serverside, because clearing data, reinstall the Pokemon Go App doesn't reset this lock.​Other then the friendship-XP you will get the gym-coins without the notifications.​At this moment I'm not sure what will happen when you become a lucky friend during this lock.
