"Long term motivation in Pokemon Go - how to fix it"

#PokemonGO: I'm playing Pokemon Go daily since its release in my country in July 2016 and have always enjoyed playing. But for several months my motivation has been decreasing and I'm less and less interested in Pokemon Go. I guess I wouldn't even play anymore if it weren't for the Gotcha. However, I think Niantic could easily solve such motivation issues. So what are the problems and what would be solutions to that?# SpawnsThe game evolves around walking, catching and spinning the stops. These are the very basics and they define what the game is about. However, - and as we were rightfully concerned years and months ago - they didn't manage to get the spawn quality or distribution right. I cannot complain about the first three generations, I think you still saw the occasional Larvitar, Beldum and Bagon, if you played enough. However, Generation 4 completely destroyed my regular playing experience. Gible? I have hatched one and I think that's one more than what most people have (seen). Cranidos is also really rare and weather doesn't help either, because it's spawning the same Pokemon over and over again. So partly cloudly could increase Cranidos, right? But in reality, I catch countless Sentres, Zigzagoons and Meowths. In sunny weather I hardly ever see Litwicks (which should be boosted), but Barboach, and other things I have candies in the thousands (and I'm even far from being a hardcore player).## NestsI don't know about you guys, but the park nearby is stuck in the most boring rotations imaginable. It's like gen 2 starter, gen 1 starter, gen 2 starter, Shroomish, gen 3 starter, gen 1 starter, ... and so on. It's neither a nice shiny Pokemon (Scyther or Machop) or a new generation. I sometimes check other nests, but they are terribly boring as well (I haven't seen a Hippopotas nest in Vienna or anything remotely interesting.I think nest rotations should be far more random. I think we had Chikorita nests four times now and they eat more hyperballs than any useful Pokemon.## Community daysI don't feel like I need to play anyways. I just need to wait for a Community Day to get hundreds of candies, a few shinies and a better move. So why would I even bother to grind hard in non-event times? CDs are a great concept, but they are kind of destroying the regular playing experience. Also because the number of spawns in awesome and then you are back to normal and think "meh, it's not worth the effort".## Lures and IncenseI don't even see the purpose in buying them. Outside of CD you get the same junk over and over again. If they were lures and incense that - really - increase the chance of getting those rare Pokemon, they would be worth buying. But then again, I think you'd still be better off to wait for a CD.# RaidsRaids have been a great motivator for me to power up Pokemon. But with harder raid bosses and less rewards (because you need a larger group which in return costs you balls and rewards), I find myself being less interested in raiding and powering stuff up (because why would I? I cannot trio a raid boss, so I have to look for a larger group and then I usually end up with 10 or more other players - no need for maxed out powerhouses). Also while I see and understand that they want Pokemon to be a social game, I don't want that to be enforced. Sometimes I don't want to meet others, talk with them and drive somewhere. I'm tired after work, I just want to do a raid that is somewhat rewarding. In my opinion they should have each boss as every tier. So, Darkrai as T1, gives you the regular T1 rewards and a Level 1 Darkrai (for example). But you can still get Darkrai candies and a good one - you just need to invest more resources to power them up. Or you want a solo challenge? Then maybe try a T3 one (catch as Level 10, get some better rewards and only doable with a bunch of maxed out Machamps).# Egg poolIt's ridiculous how bad the egg pool is. What are the chances to get a Deino or Gible? About 1%? I don't even bother buying Incubators.... Actually, I don't see a reason why I'd buy anything as is.# PokestopsI don't see any reason why there isn't at least one stop per level 17 cell, for example. I'm living in a larger city, but I cannot even fathom why there are still players in smaller towns and even villages.# GymsLet us place Legendaries in our gold gyms or give us a reason why we would do gym battling besides the 50 coins (which we probably won't even need with special events that require real money to get a pass - instead of making them 2000 coins or something really high - at least it would be possible to participate as a F2P despite having to invest a lot of time).TL;DR: improving the spawns is vital for the game. Make them more interesting, so that playing on non-event days is still fun. Raids should be playable for everyone - allow to pick different tiers for each boss (would also allow for different challenges, if you could do certain T3 bosses as T5 and so on - so you don't get bored when the Regis show up).Edit: why isn't the markdown working? :( via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/32RsZv4
