"What are Some of the Worst Pokemon to use IN A STORY PLAYTHROUGH?"
Either because they're found/evolved too late in the game to be worth using, or they're just kinda awkward in the main story and are better in Competitive. For me, I'd say Larvesta, but I'll be focusing on Ultra Sun/Moon for my reasoning as that's when I used one. So, I was planning a team for Ultra Sun prerelease, focusing on Pokemon I haven't used in a playthrough before. I settled on Volcarona. I checked where it was on Serebii to make sure it wasn't version exclusive or postgame, it said it was available in the Lush Jungle, so cool, I'll have to go the Grass Trial without a fire type, and it evolves at Level 59, but it'll be fine, and I'm also using a Salamence, so I can take it.Fast forward to when the Grass Trial is over, I go searching for about ten minutes or so, no Larvesta. Hmm. I go onto Serebii to check, and Larvesta is indeed in the Lush Jungle. But it's in the cave. That you can only get to with Strength from Poni Island (much further into the game), and it has a 1% encounter rate (fair.) Great. So once I get Strength, I immediately haul back to Akala Island and spend a long time trying to find a Larvesta with it's 1% encounter rate, and once I do get one, I found a new problem.Larvesta is a physical attacker. So? Volcarona is a Special Attacker, meaning its moveset will have to completely change because of its weird stat distribution, and its physical STAB is either alright (leech life & u-turn) or meh (flame charge & flame wheel, which by the time you'd get it to relearn flare blitz, it's evolved). So most of the time I had with it was level grinding it in Vast Poni Canyon because he would get destroyed by Power Gem, then changing the moveset with whatever I could (Flamethrower, maybe Psychic) once he evolved. Then, of course, he became amazing, but it was a heavy process involved. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2TYtyRr
