"Pokemon GO: How Niantic could bring back excitement in it's playerbase."

#PokemonGO: So, hi! Earlier today, I saw an interesting post on this subreddit regarding the releases of new Pokemon. This, along with some of the replies, prompted me to consider how Pokemon GO’s update history has drastically changed throughout its four years. The following is a list, with explanations, of what I want brought back from the early years of Pokemon GO.>Generational Releases: This was the main point of the previously linked post, so I’ll keep my bit brief. I strongly agree with the replies regarding bringing back the Gen 3 way of releasing Pokemon, including themed waves, with each wave featuring one shiny Pokemon, similar to Swablu and Aron back in the day. This would have worked well with Gen 5, and could fit Gen’s 6 and 7 well too.>Rare Pokemon: In essence, rare Pokemon have become less of a spectrum and more ‘black and white’. Pokemon are either findable everywhere, like Elgyem, or findable nowhere, like Unown, and the Gen 5 fossils. I’d like to see the return of more fair spawns to casual players who don’t have a complete dex due to Niantic’s loot-box eggs and unfair spawn percentages.>Shiny Rates: Shiny Pokemon have become an extremely heated topic of discussion, between arguers that shinies are too rare in some events, but yet too common on community days. Players of the mainline Pokemon games will know that the typical shiny rate is much lower than that of GO’s, and that GO is by far one of the easiest games to shiny hunt. Community Days, where I can get 18 shiny Magikarp’s in just 6 hours proves that. To balance this out, I would recommend lowering the shiny rate for Community Day, so it is still more common than usual in GO while also requiring work on the players behalf.>Research, broken in to three categories:>Special Research: I don’t know about the subreddit, but I would adore a bi-weekly (every two weeks) special research as a short story, just to give a sense of adventure and accomplishment. In the words of user LockShockndBarrel , “I don’t have that emotion anymore. Niantic have, for all the features that they’ve given us, killed the primary aspect of a Pokémon trainers journey.” This could reignite players motivation to go out and quest, with our team leaders and Willow needing help with certain field tasks. This could also be a way of accessing rarer Pokemon, in addition to what I touched on previously.>Research Breakthroughs: You all saw this coming, the lack of legendary Pokemon in research boxes. While it can be said that remote raiding has definitely improved the accessibility of legendary Pokemon, players who don’t use social media or have friends who also play Pokemon GO are sitting ducks in terms of filling their dex. Hence, we should bring back legendary Pokemon to Research.>Monthly PokeStop Research: What do Electrike and Growlithe have in common? Both of them got their shinies released as part of the Monthly Research changes, along with type themed months. Remember when the months research rewards included fire or electric type Pokemon? I’d like to see the return of this, as well as it helping get more shinies released.>Evolution: One of my favorite GO updates as of late was trade evolutions! Being able to evolve for free after a trade just like on the Gameboy was truly a kick of nostalgia which I appreciated. However, the same just cant be said regarding the handling of evolution items. These were costly in both candy usage and item usage, as typically, players get 1-2 items a week. These items, due to their rarity, should allow for the immediate evolution of a Pokemon like trades, and forgo the candy requirements.I’ll be making edits to this post with more reasons as I see fit, and I’d love your thoughts as well if you read all of what I said! Thanks :) via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/33DMdaW
