"The limits on Mega Evolutions makes them absolutely pointless for anything other than a paid Dex entry costing 4-7 Raids per Starter Species. Niantic is also killing short-manning in the process by doing this."

#PokemonGO: So I've been waiting a long time to see how they'd handle Megas...Ultimately? They've taken one of the cooler Pokemon mechanics in the mainline games and completely butchered it.Early reports put the raid energy gains in the 30-50 range, with beating the raid in less than 30 seconds being required for 50.To Evolve all 4 Mega stage Evolutions currently in raids, you need to spend 16-28 passes to gain the needed energy to unlock all 4 raidable forms. Beedrill is currently give out via a quest and seems to be the exception to this. After spending 800 energy collectively between the 4 different species, you get to unlock one Mega for a total of 4 hours. This Mega is only usable in raids during that time period, and has the benefit of boosting damage of others in the raid (which is nice), and has great stats (as expected) but otherwise has no real use. Given that the goal of getting these creatures unlocked as fast as possible requires you to now join lobbies with as many players as possible, this renders the entire point of a Mega useless as you are just better off focusing on doing raids in either communities with large groups of people, or in populated cities where lobbies already fill up quickly. This means that wasting Mega evolve energy literally gains you nothing you can't already easily get if you're a regular raid player. To make mattes worse, this deters more people from short-manning raids. Since rewards on all raids are now tied to the timer, this means doing a raid with as few players as possible is also now a huge disadvantage. Meaning you will ONLY want to raid in large groups as FREQUENTLY as possible to maximize rewards across ALL raids. Once again, this renders Mega Evolutions to be effectively pointless as only one trainer needs to have a mega Pokemon evolved to benefit everyone else. This is made EVEN WORSE by the fact that you can only evolve ONE SPECIES at a given time, meaning you can't strategically use the correct typing across multiple raids easily at all unless you are only planning to raid the same species like a legendary.Overall, this is a very, very bad mechanic and absolutely kills the point of these mons. At best, if a legendary boss is weak to one of your mega Pokemon, and you plan to string a bunch of raids of this same boss together, keeping the mega on your team MIGHT help speed up the raid a TINY bit. But you can't even create a team of 6 like you normally do. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/32uwE2Z
