"Why does Unova, the region based on America, seem so un-American?"

Maybe this is just me but idk it’s been bothering me.Like, the main bad guys act and look like some medieval order. They have a king, there’s castles, there’s a final confrontation with dragons. The original B&W’s music didn’t feel American (though B&W2 fixed this).Like yeah there’s a New York and a cowboy gym leader. But like; with Kalos I feel like it is very much stereotypical France. Alola is stereotypical Hawaii. America only looks like stereotypical America, but then is filled with stuff that just doesn’t feel American.Like, I feel like the story of this game would’ve fit better in like England. Or hella even like a 1600s England. The whole floating castle and king and everything about Team Plasma just does not suit Unova imo.Though I do find it kinda funny that the one story that presented Pokémon as a flawed world with a lot of issues is also the America game. What do y’all think? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2Xpoc6Q
