"As a kid I never realised how abysmally dull it was to have to grind up a full team with wonky power curves. Now I can actually play with 'new' Pokemon I haven't before comfortably."
I recently played through Crystal again on my DS and I realised how absolutely abysmal the power curve was in the early Gens for grinding existing team members or training up ones you catch later.I ended up only using a team of three to be able to comfortably level them in a timely fashion rather than needing to grind for literally hours extra off of massively under levelled wild Pokemon to keep pace with six.Going into BDSP I was excited to use a team of Pokemon I hadn't used in a playthrough of Gen 4 before, and the EXP share let me do that without hours of grinding. I still had to occasionally grind levels to keep pace by swapping as we encountered new trainers but I never felt like I had to only focus on a few - I could build the team I wanted to in a reasonable timeframe.I totally respect why not having the option to turn it off bothered some people but I don't understand those who said it never should have been a thing at all. I'm not a kid anymore with all day every day to pour into the game, sadly! via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/3CKm4Fq
