Pokemon follow youAn rival that the game makes you want to beat the shit out ofRival has character development (Going from a criminal who has no love for his pokemon to someone who loves his pokemon)Rival has a backstory (Son of Giovanni, his dad left)You go through not one, but two regionsYou have access to Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn starters (albeit the last two after you beat the game)Actually a hard ass game to beat, with trainers theoughout Kanto at stupidly high levelsLance is an actual hard to defeat champion (Controversial but Id say hes just as hard as Cynthia with his stupid ass three dragonites)You can catch both box cover legendaries in both gamesNot completely linear gameplay (You have some option with gym leaders)Then the final reason is because of the final boss; Red. By far the best pokemon boss fight of all time.He waits at the top of Mount Silver, the most dangerous place across the two regions, in the freezing hail. Awaiting for his next challenge. When you talk to him, all he says is, “…” And the battle starts. That shit is fucking awesome.Then you fight, and its the hardest battle in the game and I think the hardest battle in all of pokemon. Dude has a level 88 Pikachu like wtf.Beating Red (who is you from the earlier games) symbollizes you becoming stronger than you were before.I think Heartgold and Soulsilver is honestly just a really really well made pokemon game that actually had some thought into it.Ive been in the process of replaying this game on my soulsilver cartridge this summer and just remembered how awesome the game is. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/8qIpbcD
