There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the continuity of the Pokémon anime and whether it will continue to revolve around Ash or be based on something new entirely. And in addition to that, it’s been a hot discussion on whether or not Ash will be catching the Paldean starter Pokémon at all.After looking at two of Ash’s most recent indisputable aces being Ash Greninja and Mega Lucario, it makes me wonder if they are by choice or coincidence. Greninja as mentioned in its name is a ninja Pokémon- utilizing water shaped kunai and shuriken. Might I add a very rapidly spinning shuriken. Lucario on the other hand is able to power up his aura through Ash and friends to create a giant aura sphere.Both aces are extremely similar to two of animes most popular characters: Naruto and Goku! Both Pokemon’s moves are oddly similar to Naruto’s rasenshuriken and Goku’s spirit bomb. Following this trend, it makes sense for Ash’s next ace to be based on the last remaining original “big three” characters being One Piece’s “Luffy”. Quaxly being based on what could be a sailor or pirate would be the perfect candidate for this role, not mentioning these historical figure’s roles in Spanish history.Fun fact: Goku’s voice actor Sean Schemmel was previously a voice actor for Lucario.**Edit: Since the general consensus is that the big three is One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, it’s possible to look at overall sales as an indicator instead.
