"I find it ironic that gen 5 is considered "so different" when it's the one that shook up the gameplay the least."
Speaking purely on core gameplay, it basically feels like gen 4.5. I don't mean this in a bad way because B2W2 are my favorite core games in the series and I generally agree with don't fix something that isn't broken. I just find it a little funny that it's considered like a soft reboot when the changes it brought to the table are.. uh.. a third ability slot for Pokemon and um.... two battle formats that were hardly ever used even when they debuted. Meanwhile all the other generations are introducing new types, natures, the very concept of abilities, special being split into two types, rehauled evs, physical/special split, and new flashy battle gimmicks.I'm not lost on the fact that it came from that fact the single-player campaign broke a few tropes and in the original B/W you could only use the new Pokemon. I just didn't consider these factors big enough to feel like it was a completely alien game from Platinum/HGSS. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/YNHrWZF
