"Toad's Daily Pokémon Ranking: Day 060, Poliwag"

Poliwag is based on a Tadpole, but it evolves into a different direction that avoids becoming a frog, which could be interesting, but it just... isn't. It just turns into a bipedal tadpole that keeps the exact same design elements, before becoming an even angrier bipedal tadpole that- keeps the same design elements. In the end, the line never becomes more than a blue bean with a weird, unnatural looking swirly symbol and I just... can't get behind it.I'm not saying Poliwag isn't kinda cute, it is, which is why it's my favorite part of the line. But that swirl pattern in the middle just bugs me, it doesn't look like anything a natural creature would have - it's entirely asymmetrical a pattern that just looks drawn on, and it bothers me. Combined with the lack luster rest of the Poliwag family, and you have a Pokémon that I honestly can't help but forget about most of the time.There's nothing inherently wrong with it though, so I'm going to put it at the very bottom of the existing C Tier. It's a basic Pokémon design that raises some interesting idea, but has a predominantly plain design and ultimately isn't memorable or particularly well thought out.-----------------------------------------------------Despite being literally named Toad, I'm not really a fan of most Pokémon amphibians before Bellibolt was revealed.
