"Is Niantic Sunsetting Pokémon Go?"

#PokemonGO: So I know there’s been a lot from the community about how Niantic isn’t listening to the player base and all that. While I certainly agree, at this point I’m wondering if this is actually a deliberate torpedoing of the game so Niantic can shutter it in the near future.Specifically, what I’m curious about is what The Pokémon Company is saying to Niantic and where the two companies’ contracts are sitting. Consider:Niantic's last season of Go was honestly pretty good and quite lively. Come 2023, that pretty much ground to a halt. Market conditions weren't terribly different between December and now, but corporate directions change at the start of a year.Pokemon Go will be 7 years old in July, at which point it's really verging into being a matured title.Since 2020, Go has likely outperformed TPC's expectations and likely a whole lot of its sales on mainline games.Nintendo shuttered the 3DS/Wii U eShop in March, and they're also pulling Mario IP out of the mobile market.Scarlet and Violet bombed hard in reviews even though it sold well, and people got over it real quick. In short, I'm wondering if TPC is having Niantic wind Go down because their contract is ending and Go has made them look bad lately. Maybe offering a little sweeter of a deal to sour everyone on Go ahead of a new release.Thoughts? via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/63vtl0a
