"Who would be a possible suprise Champion?"

This was also done with the thought that a suprise champion would need to be someone that traditionaly appears in most if not all Pokemon games, so they have a place in the plot without the champion title being applicable. In theory, Pokemon could introduce a character that still fulfils a different role other than as the champion, but the thought here was, what if they didn't.Might be too soon to discuss this, since Scarlet & Violet came out not too long ago, but I was watching a Youtube video rating champions & how Blue being a champion was a really cool last minute suprise that can't really be done again, since rival becomes champion is something we're too used to by now.That got me thinking, what character could be a champion that would a) be a suprise, while b) being present enough in the game that people won't complain about the champion being boring.First thought was the professor, but we have Kukui in Sun & Moon and Professor Oak being the original final battle in Red & Blue, it wouldn't be bad, but it would still be repetative.Other than that, the characters that appear in Pokemon games are the rival/s, gym leaders, elite four and the evil team, so unless the evil team leader is secretly the champion & completly changes their team from the evil team leader battle to champion battle, I don't really see it working.And then I realized that there is a character, other than the above mentioned, that appears in every single mainline game. A character that usually doesn't get much screentime or development, but has in a few select games. A character that we never really learn much about and having one with solid character building and relevance to the plot would be pretty cool.The player characters mother.The player has a mother in every single mainline game (excluding Legends Arceus, if that counts as a mainline game), doesn't often appear beyond whenever you decide to go back home and doesn't seem plot relevant at all.However, as seen with Johanna (Sinnoh mom character) it is possible to have them appear elsewhere than just the players house and them having some relevance, it wasn't much but at least Johanna has a backstory with Pokemon contests.She can also be incorporated with phone calls like in Heart Gold/Soul Silver, giving her more screentime and possibly relevance.With how bordeline non-existant the mother is in the Pokemon games, it would be hate to pull of, but who would expect the perpetual wallflower to secretly be the champion? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/dG7EiZe
