"What's the best game to playthrough for class project?"

Hello, everyone! I'm a big fan of Pokemon for the past two decades and I've seen many people use guides and damage calculators to determine which battle strategy would be the best for main battles (specifically for nuzlockes). Now, I'm working towards becoming a math teacher in the fall (hopefully at a middle school) and I thought playing through a Pokemon game using a damage calculator would be a fun project in order to teach the kids about probabilities, centers of spread, and confidence (and other early concepts of statistics that the STAAR covers for some reason that makes 0 sense to me)Obviously, this idea won't be happening for a long time if it does, but I think I'd want my students to write/type out justifications for lineup changes and decisions in main battles (i.e. Gym Leaders, Rival after first battle, Big Bad Boss + admins, E4 & Champion). I'd let them use a damage calculator as well as a game guide (most likely on Serebii) and teach them how to set up and play said game on their laptop or computer. If having access to more than one screen is necessary (because emulators aren't super friendly for one monitor), then I may have students pair up for a co-op gameplay experience.I first considered them to do a modified nuzlocke since I want them to use damage calcs, but after some consideration, I felt that I don't want to put that kind of stress on them (especially if they're new or unfamiliar with Pokemon and even I don't do nuzlockes for that reason). Obviously, if some seventh-graders want a challenge, then I won't stop them unless it gets really out of hand.I want to say that I'd like to give my students at least a month to finish the project (either in-class in 20 minute increments or outside of class with occasional class periods dedicated to the project). Do any of you guys have any suggestions on which game would be the best one for this situation? I know FR/LF and r/S/E are popular for casual gameplay, but it's been a loooong time since I played those games and I don't know if the level grinding will be a big issue in regards to time. I know Gen 6 ended that, but X/Y are a little too easy imo and S/M/US/UM are pretty long games. Any good suggestions or anything I'm not considering? via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/ejMZG87
