until I learned that in the original japanese the move was called 'hop' and was only translated to 'splash' because at the time, it was Magikarp's signature move.So Hoppip knowing HOP makes a ton of sense, way more than Hoppip knowing SPLASH. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2bsk4GM
