"Please stop dropping incredibly low (0-200) CP pokes into gyms to prestige them easier. There's a better way!"

#PokemonGO: EDIT: It's been successfully shoved down my throat that there is an even better way to prestige than I had found. You place a magikarp in the gym and fight it with a lower grass or electric poke. If you fight it with something half the CP of the magikarp you get the full +1000 prestige each time I guess? You can read the comments if you'd like to know more. I'm done with Reddit for a while. Good luck and have fun, everybody.----------- the following (original) post is useless I guess, the magikarp thing sounds awesome -------Hopefully you all aren't seeing this as often as I am, but six or seven times this week I've seen people put in terribly low CP pokemon so they can train the gym up easier. The other day someone actually told a big group of us (all strangers on the same team building up our gym) to put in three or four super low Pokemon so we could train it up.Please don't do this! There is such an easier way! ALSO, doing this is hurting your gym more than helping. The easiest way to prestige your own gym is to fight the lowest pokemon with something even lower- beat that one and run away from the battle immediately. Let's say there's a CP 600 pigeot at the bottom of your gym. Use something that's CP 590, (ANYTHING under 600,) beat the pigeot, and run away. That ups your gym by 500 prestige each time, and it takes but a minute.By instead putting in something super low, something that no one can beat with something even lower (like a 100 CP Oddish... who keeps a bunch of <100 CP pokes around to battle with? Certainly not me.) By doing this, you're just making us fight some little annoying thing and THEN the next weakest Pokemon to get the same +prestige that we would have if you had just put in something normal/good.Instead of fighting the 600CP pigeot and leaving, now we have to fight a 600CP AND a 100CP but with the same 590CP. Yes, you can use something with a really high CP and just mash them all, but that takes way more unnecessary time, effort, potion and it just isn't worth the prestige it gives you. You get the best bang (prestige) for your buck by winning with a lower CP than the one you're fighting. And for the love of god, DON'T JUST FILL IT WITH LOW CP SO YOU CAN TRAIN IT. That's so irrational. If it takes you a second to beat four <100CP pokes what makes you think it'll be hard for another team to take it down??TLDR: - Please, PLEASE, leave one decent (600-1000 CP? use your best judgement) pokemon at the bottom of a gym to make it easier to prestige. The lower you go, the more work you make it for everyone on your team, and the easier you make it for another team to take it down. - To prestige the fastest, beat the lowest CP poke with an even lower CP one, and run away. That gives you +500 prestige each time. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2b9CSwJ
