"The most important factor for training gyms is moveset DPS, so using Pokémon with good movesets and type advantages is a simple way of choosing Pokémon for training"

#PokemonGO: When it comes to training, moveset DPS is more important than Pokémon stats (maths in comments). An easy way to estimate the best Pokémon for training a gym is to choose one at a suitable CP with a strong moveset, making use of type advantages to increase your odds. However, this estimation assumes player's dodge some of the time, such as only dodging special moves. If your play style involves little to no dodging, then you will find tankier Pokémon more effective. It is also important to point out that Chansey is absurdly tanky for it's CP, so even with a worse moveset she makes an eggcellent Pokémon for training. So if you want an easy way to see if your Pokémon is decent for training, look up it's moveset DPS, as long as it's above average you'll do okay! Keep in mind movesets of a single type are very useful for type advantages. Here are a few movesets that are great even if they aren't super effective (as long as you have STAB):Pound + Hyper Beam / Play RoughBug Bite / Vine Whip + Solar BeamWater Gun + Hydro PumpWing Attack / Fire Fang + Fire BlastMud Shot / Poison Jab + Earthquake / Stone Edge via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2brbzjt
