It seems like a no brainer, Ash returns home to Pallet he goes to Oak's place to see all his old pokes and show off his Kalos ones, Oak's Cousin is Visiting from Alola and has an Alolan form poke with him, explains to Ash there's more like this in the region he's from, Ash decides he wants to go to this new region.
