"LPT Request: How to join a gym battle that someone else started without instantly murdering your first pokemon?"

#PokemonGO: Is there a better option than just leading with a crap pokemon that you expect to die?? CONTEXT!I was fighting a level 6 enemy gym solo today. I had my 2300 Lapras and I was dodging left and right, perfectly timing my charge attacks, and I actually managed to get through six pretty tough defenders with just one Lapras.Awesome, now the gym is level 5. I heal up and go back to the gym, first pokemon loads and hey look, someone on my team has joined the fight. Cool. Instantly my Lapras and the enemy Venusaur are both dead from damage syncing with the other player. This sucks! My 'mon could've easily taken down the rest of the defenders! Is there any way to prevent the MASSIVE loss of HP from joining a co-op gym battle?? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cdH7ES
