#PokemonGO: 9/10 posts suggesting that a game mechanic has changed are anecdotes - usually something like "Has anyone else noticed that the flee-rate of weedles has gone way up? I just had five in a row run away."Even if all readers recognized this as non-scientific and disregarded it, it would still clutter up the sub. However, it's not the case that all readers disregard it, and a lot of rumors get started this way! There are a lot of us! Every once in a while, one of us is going to hatch three porygons in a row, and if we always posted here when that happened, we'd have... well... we'd have the current state of this sub. What if, instead of making unsubstantiated claims, we put out calls for help researching them? Maybe you "feel" like Weedle's flee-rate has changed, but you need data! Maybe you could come here proposing a research project and asking for help. Maybe we could have a rep system, to help filter out contributions of bad/fake data.Or maybe we could just censor posts that make unsubstantiated claims.I don't know, but something's gotta give. Thoughts?Edit: Even a [Hypothesis] tag would alleviate some misinformation burden. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2cVspCq
