"Gym levels: The difference between taking down a level 7 gym and a level 10 gym is nearly twice the number of battles. Does it make sense to go right for 10 when leveling up?"

#PokemonGO: So I have been bringing my local gyms up to level 7 after I capture them. This way once they are full of pokemon they will automatically go up to level 8. Once I see them hit level 8 I bring them to within 500 prestige of the next level.I was bringing them up to within 500 prestige so that players would have to battle before putting something in the gym. The logic being that this would stop a random level 12 player from just dropping in their 800 CP Pinsier.After looking at gym levels and the number of battles that need to be fought, it may actually make more sense to bring the gym to level 10 right away. By putting that 800 CP Pinsir in the level 9 spot the attacker now has to beat the entire lineup of pokemon twice before the gym drops to level 8.On the flip side, whenever I see a level 6+ gym with a bunch of scrubs on the bottom I like to take it out. A level 8 gym with a magikarp on the bottom is like a giant flag that says please attack me.What do you guys think? What's the best strategy for making a strong gym?
