"Are kids these days as fascinated by Pokemon as were back then?"
When I grew up, Pokemon was purely magical. Back then, during the first generation, Pokemon had its Pokemania hype. The little creatures were everywhere as merchandise was flooding the market. Everyone I have known used to have a copy of either Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow and we used the link cable to trade and fight. Since no one had an internet connection, you had to rely on school rumors with highlights like mew under the truck, missingno or mewthree. Back then, Pokemon was somehow magical. I've learnt all 151 Pokemon, their moves and strengths/weaknesses by heart. My obsession continued with Pokemon Silver, where I used to have about 300 hours of playtime. It was so cool to conquer the Kanto region again once you had finished the Jotho region. The final boss fight against red was just pure epicness. My journey with Pokemon continued until Pokemon Sword and Shield. However, in my subjective opinion, the quality of the games had their peak with the remakes of gen 2 (HG/SS) and gen 3 (OR/AS). Since then, the quality of the games and the commitment of the creators seemed to decrease to the bare minimum. While gen 6 had some nice ideas and a bit of nostalgia due to the Kanto starters, the games since then somehow just feel unfinished. Or rather they could have been way better if the developers had more time for fine-tuning and adding some little extras. The latest videos of bugs and glitches in Scarlet and Violet proved that nowadays the games are released although they are not finished. How does this poor quality or rather the low commitment of the developers (probably due to the pressure to work on a new game) affect the relationship of today's kids to Pokemon. Are they still as fascinated as some of us were back in the days or does Pokemon just become an ordinary (but still good) game? Since I don't have kids, I am interested in your opinions, especially of parents. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/BPLzTvN
