"catch rate with update +3 bonus... (So Far)"

#PokemonGO: Alright guys, this morning at about 4:15AM PST, I updated Pokémon Go via the APK on APK Mirror. I have been extremely interested in this update since it was announced on the 6th, as I catch A LOT of Pidgey's for Evo Grinds. I don't even think about utilizing Lucky Egg's without at least 850+ Pidgey candies and 650+ Rattata Candies. Which, as I am sure most of you know, takes a lot of balls, a lot of time and a lot of effort to acquire that many candies. Luckily (sarcasm) for me, I have a spot on the way to work, and one at work, which spawn a lot of Pidgey. So, I can catch quite a bit in a single day and probably more if I didn't have to actually work! xDSo, when I heard about this update, anything to potentially save balls and avoid the frustration of a low CP Pidgey breaking out of 2, 3, 4, even 5 balls, was exciting for me. Literally, it got to the point where I felt like quitting the game because I got so frustrated with the catch rates on extremely common, low CP Pokémon. Every single Pidgey took at least 2 balls, most of the time more, and the 1 ball catch was starting to become more and more rare.I am happy to post that the catch rates that I have experienced, so far, have been a pleasant surprise. It seems as if the badge bonuses actually make quite a difference when it comes to catching Pidgey and other Pokémon.I put in some work this morning and have accumulated some data from Pidgey hunting to share with you. I was going to include ALL Pokémon, but for the purpose of the study, I decided to focus on one single type and keep a running tally. However, the catch rates for other Pokémon have also be pleasantly surprising, as well. Also, for reference, this is with the +3 Bonus, I ALWAYS throw curve balls and ALWAYS try for Great/Excellent throws, I don't always get the extra Great/Excellent bonus, but I try for it. NEVER regular throws, NEVER "Nice" bonus.Out of 52 Pidgey with a <350CP:1 Ball Capture: 372 Ball Capture: 133 Ball Capture: 1Flee: 1Out of 29 Pidgey with a >350CP:1 Ball Capture: 72 Ball Capture: 163 Ball Capture: 4Flee: 2I understand that this is a small sample size and is only my anecdotal evidence/experience. To my knowledge, nobody has yet to figure out the exact modifier for the badge bonuses and how they work. I am not claiming to know, nor am I saying that I have figured it out. This is simply useful data that I have collected on Pidgey's over the course of the last 5 hours with the new update. I figured I would post it for your reference and so people who don't have the update yet, can get a feel for what the badge modifiers have done for me.Thanks guys and I appreciate your time!TL;DR: In my anecdotal experience, after the update, with the +3 modifier, Pidgey's are usually captured with 1-2 balls. With a sample size of 81 Pidgey Captures: Pidgey's with a <350CP were typically caught with 1 ball 70% of the time and 2 balls 25% of the time. Pidgey's with a >350CP were caught with 1 ball 24% of the time and 2 balls 55% of the time.EDIT: I found my data from that last time I did this study, when it seemed as if the capture rate had dropped. I was mad because it seemed like EVERY Pidgey was at least 3 balls, every Weedle was at least 2, Etc. and that these common, fairly-low-CP Pokémon, should not be taking as many balls as they were. Living in a semi-small town, with only one area that is really dense in Pokestops, I was having to grind stops fairly often because I would run out of balls so quickly. So here is the Data from that study. Now, I didn't separate these Pidgey by CP or any other factor, just a straight Ball/Pidgey study with same Curve/Great throws as this current study. My Results were as follows:Over a total of 100 Pidgey Captures:1 Ball: 132 Balls: 333 Balls: 254 Balls: 175 Balls: 8Flee: 4For an average of 2.62 Ball per 1 Pidgey Capture. A difference of 1.18 Balls/Capture with the current medal bonus. So, basically, before the update I was averaging 2 and 3 balls per capture, where as now, I am averaging 1 and 2 balls per capture. Which, when you think about, 1 full ball per capture is actually pretty large considering how many Pidgey's we catch on average. If I stock up on 300 regular pokeballs, I am going to catch approx. 98.83 more Pidgey's before I have to refill than I would have before the update!!! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2eoQeXV
