"Time and Effort placed in to Attacking or Training a Gym needs to have a Ratio of 1:1."

#PokemonGO: When this game was first released, you were only allowed to train a friendly gym by using 1 Pokemon. This likely involved you versing the bottom Pokemon over and over, netting you around 500-1000 prestige based on what Pokemon it was and what Pokemon you could use. Attacking gyms was a lot easier. Using a Pokemon of similar or higher CP to attack a defending Pokemon would grant you -500 prestige and -1500 for defeating the entire gym. During this period if an attacker and a trainer were simultaneously batting the same gym, it was quicker and easier for the attacker to reduce the prestige than it was for the trainer to increase it.The first update to gyms was Niantic's answer to making training gyms easier. Allowing you to train a friendly gym with 6 of your own Pokemon allowed trainers to effectively gain prestige a lot faster. Depending on which Pokemon were used and how many Pokemon were defeated during the battle, it allowed trainers to increase the prestige anywhere from 500-6000+. In turn this created a problem. Majority of the gyms stagnated at level 10 and only budging down to 9 and back up again occasionally. Using my previous example, if an attacker and a trainer were to battle the same gym simultaneously, it would be easier for the trainer to increase the prestige (+1000 per battle) than it would be for the attacker to reduce it (-500 per battle).A few days ago Niantic updated their game again. This time creating an answer to all of the level 10 gyms everywhere. Training a gym now takes x2 as long as it once did. Reducing the maximum amount of prestige per battle from 1000 to 500. On the other side, it now takes twice as fast at defeating a gym. Going from -500 per battle to -1000. Using my example again. An attacker and a trainer are battling the same gym; it'll take the trainer twice as long to increase the prestige (+500 per battle) than it would be for the attacker to reduce it (-1000 per battle).During the 4 months this game has been available, we haven't once had a fair and equal battling system. Either the attacker or the trainer have had a major advantage. Why can't we have a 1:1 ratio with time and effort. 5 minutes to defeat a gym, 5 minutes to train a gym. 2 Potions to defeat a gym, 2 Potions to train a gym. -1000 for defeating a Pokemon, +1000 for training against a Pokemon. It's a relatively simple solution and I can't understand why we've gone from one polar opposite to the other, and then back again. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/5c1bik/time_and_effort_placed_in_to_attacking_or/?utm_source=ifttt
