"Why were gender differences strongly showcased in Gen 4 but mostly forgotten in later gens bar Unfezant, Jellicent's line, Pyroar, and Meowstic?"

When gender differences were introduced in Gen 4, a good portion of Pokemon from Gen 1 - 4 had slight redesigns to show their gender differences. Most of these gender differences were subtle (shorter/longer horns/whiskers/abdomen and such), , while others had interesting changes, like Hippowdown being a completely different color, Gyarados's whiskers changing colors, or Pikachu having a heart-shaped tail if it's female. However, in later gens, it seemed that Gamefreak was like "eh, these subtle gender differences" and only gave gender differences to 1-2 Pokemon per gen. Said gender differences aren't subtle and look significantly different. I can definitely see Pyroar looking different, but I find it strange they dropped the "subtle gender difference deal" and just applied it to a few Pokemon. Also from the looks of it, no Gen 7 Pokemon have gender differences either (if anybody noticed any, post a spoiler link). via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2frOFWi
