"After the recent talk about possible updated speedlimits, I made a quick test tonight."

#PokemonGO: Since 0.51 came out, I've read a few posts regarding higher speed limits. So I decided to give it a try and start a test. For this highly complicated scientific experiment, I needed:a cara road.To recall the observed distance logging behaviour: Every 60 seconds, PokemonGO checks your location and calculates the direct distance to the point you have been 60 seconds prior. After 4 minutes, the four calculated distances get visibly added. This was observed quite at the beginning of the game and seems about right. If the distance for 60 seconds was over 175 meters, it was deleted, else it was counted. 175m in a minute is an average of 10.5km/h.So to test a possible higher speed cap, I got in my car at 4am and went to a straight road. I waited until the kilometers refreshed and started driving in idle in the 2nd gear, which is equal to a constant speed of 14.3 km/h (this is a value I know for my car and I calculated it afterwards additionally to check). I started with my runners badge at 1291.25km. After a few 4-minute-cycles and driving 3.8km, I checked again. This time, it showed...1291.25km. So no distance was booked onto.TL;DR if the speedcap got increased, it is still below 14.3km/h. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2hVB4IB
