"Factoring in fun and remembering that expected value is not the same as actual value."

#PokemonGO: I am a great believer in maximising fun. It is summer here in NZ and I am single so I'm spending a lot of time alone these holidays. Playing Pokemon Go is an excellent alone time activity especially when the weather is great so I decided to disregard all logic and use my coins on a heap of incubators in order to increase the fun even though the likelihood of good Pokemon is lowered. Sure, I wanted a Togepi but as so many of you pointed out there would be a lower chance of better Pokemon so it would have been better to wait. So, what 10k eggs have I hatched so far?3x Lapras (1 on 26th, 1 on 27th and the last just now) 2x Elekid 1x ScytherBefore you ask, I am 100% sure these eggs were gotten after the event started. Please remember that just because the probability of hatching something is 0.01 that doesn't mean you will get one every 100 hatches. Also, please remember to factor fun into your calculations. Hatching 1 Lapras (let alone 3) was more valuable to me this week that it would have been had that happened next week. It is totally possible to get too serious and caught up in the numbers and forget to enjoy the random.Happy hatching xxEdit: Spelling via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2hswIKz
